It is a village that counts about 700 inhabitants; it is 68km south-west of Kalamata, situated at the south part of the Prefecture.

It is built in a lee anchorage, opposite the islet of Shciza. Finikounda is a picturesque fishing village at the back of a bay. The road winds like a vast serpent slowly amidst lush fields to arrive at Koroni. Its medieval atmosphere is imprinted in its old mansions, its churches and its castle.
