Farsala count about 9000 people. Farsala is located in the southern part of the Prefecture of Larissa, 45 km. far from Larissa.

The entire central part of the county is crossed by the river Enipeas and its tributaries, creating a fertile plain. There are many ruins of the ancient town of Farsalos. It is said that the legendary warrior Achilles came from the region of ancient Farsalos.
It is worth mentioning the huge cave of Nymfaio that can be found at the location "Karapla", just outside the city of Farsala.
Farsala is renowned for the production of a local kind of buttery halva (sapoune) that is made of rice flour and has a crunchy crust made of burnt sugar.
